Hello, my lovelies!
I don’t know what is up with me, but I’ve been really lethargic lately. Winter blues? I dunno. Feel like I need to start napping, but my bosses seem to dislike my post-lunch sietsta ideas. Jerks.
Anyway, awhile back Hautelook had The Balm featured and I snagged the other two Shady Lady Palettes, since Volume 2 was so great. Today, we’re looking at the original. The Shady Lady eyeshadow palettes feature 9 shadows each, and a cute animal print cover for the matching cardboard palette with a full size mirror and magnetic closure. I love the packaging. It’s adorable and fits easily into most normal purses and bags for travel and mid-day touch ups.
Caught in the Act Courtney: Dark red-toned brown with bronze sparkle. Shameless Shana: A shimmery copper Luscious Lani: Shimmery flesh-toned pink Jealous Jordana: Shimmery emerald green with green sparkles Risque Renee: Navy blue with pink and blue sparkle (This macro would not photograph correctly.) Curvy Cami: Orchid shimmer with champagne pink sparkle Jet-Setting Jennifer: Sandy gold shimmer All About Alex: Olive green shimmer Easy Wheezie: Blue-toned pewter shimmer For some reason, the macro shots just will not show the correct colors, but the shots of the whole palette are pretty accurate. All of these shadows are soft and easily blended. I usually wear them with Urban Decay Primer Potion, and I get pretty minimal creasing, even after 12-16 hours of wear. The shimmery colors are a bit softer, where the ones with the sparkle are a little harder/dryer, but still easy to work with. They are all quite pigmented and apply on my skin pretty true to color.
The Shady Lady Palettes are available at www.thebalm.com for $39.50 each, as well as Sephora (Volumes 2 & 3) and other beauty retailers. They also make frequent appearances on Hautelook. I got this one for about $20, which was an amazing value.

Perhaps show us some of the looks you’ve created?;)

I am so bad at photographing my eye makeup…but I’ll try. I always feel like my eyes look bloodshot in photos.
