So a good portion of the unpacking has been completed, and I’ve finally gotten a chance to swatch some of my new polish!
As mentioned in a previous post, the lovelies at Pixi Cosmetics sent me a few bottles of nail polish from their new launch at Target stores. This information is from a press release they sent with the polish:

And now for the goods! I’ve already reviewed Coral Cabana, but here’s the color collage again, in case you missed it (accented with Julep Mandy and Barielle Starchild):
Next up, I tried out Luminous Lilac. The name describes the shade really well. She’s a lovely, creamy lilac with a subtle shimmer.
This one was a bit thick. Not unmanageable, but thicker than a lot of pastels. That did help with coverage (this is three coats), but helped to cause some bubbles. I didn’t allow a ton of time between coats, so this could have been user error. The silver shimmer isn’t really obvious, but I did get a bottle shot that shows it better.
The last polish Pixi sent is Very Violet, a neon purple cream. This one had a more glossy finish than some neons I’ve seen, but it wasn’t quite what I’d call “high-gloss.” The formula, however, was really smooth and easy to work with. I ended up using two coats for swatching. This one, sadly, was nearly impossible to photograph. It comes off a little streaky with the flash, but that doesn’t show when you’re actually wearing it.
I accented Very Violet with Glam-More, one of China Glaze’s new Glitter Crackles. The colors are pretty similar in real life, and the additional sparkle and texture is fun and easy to do. I love Very Violet, and I’ve already rocked a pedi and gotten tons of compliments at work.
The last Pixi polish I have today is Metallic Mermaid. I bought this one myself (along with another bottle of Very Violet, which my sister hijacked) when Pixi and Pop were on Hautelook, before I got the shipment from Pixi. As described, she’s a great mermaid-y teal and metallic. Surprisingly, there really weren’t brushstroke issues, and the finish was nice and smooth.
To continue the mermaid theme, I accented with Orly Mermaid Tale, one of their new Glam FX glitters, which is fantastic and has little glitter bits about the same color as Metallic Mermaid.
I mentioned this in the last post, but the older release of some Pixi polish came with pretty green boxes to match their other cosmetics. So cute!
All in all, I’m really glad to get my hands on these pretty polishes. I will mention, though, my thoughts of the pricing. These run $8 for 0.25 oz, compared to Zoya, Essie, Nicole by OPI, and most other brands in the same price range with 0.45 or 0.5 oz bottles. Heck, most Orly polishes are .6 oz, and are anywhere between $5-9 at Sally. The Pixi Nail Colours are nice, but I’m not sure people who aren’t hard-core polish hoarders, er, collectors would get as much value. I have a lot of polish, so I’m not concerned. When I empty a bottle, that’ll be the day… :)
What do you think of Pixi’s Nail Colours? Making a Target run soon?
